Russia-Saudi Arabia: a New Level of Contact Under the Auspices of RABC

Activization of bilateral economic relations between Russia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has coincided with new political contacts between the two countries. In June 2014 a visit of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Saudi Arabia took place. During the visit, Sergey Lavrov held meetings with Crown Prince Salman bin Abdelaziz, his heir Mukrin Abdelaziz, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom Saud Al-Faisal and Minister for National Guard Mutib Ben Abdallah.

All sides stressed the strong interest of the King of Saudi Arabia and the country's leadership in a substantial increase of partnership with the Russian Federation. The decision on the development of partnership was made during the recent telephone conversation between the Russian President Vladimir Putin and King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, as well as during the visit of Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Saud Al-Faisal to Russia in early June .
