Russian Delegation Takes Part in 3rd International Oil and Gas Exhibition in Hassi Messaoud

The 3rd Hassi Messaoud International Oil and Gas Exhibition took place in Algeria during March 5-8, 2013. This event is organized yearly in Hassi Messaoud, the “petroleum capital” of Algeria, and unites professionals from oil and gas sector all over the world interested in the development of their activities in the North Africa. The Exhibition has become a platform for direct communication between companies in oil and gas extraction in Algeria, as well as suppliers of equipment and services in the sector.

The Russian delegation participated in the event for the second year in a row under the auspices of the Russian-Arab Business Council and exhibition operator "Arabia-EXPO". In 2013, Russia was represented at the exhibition by three stands. The mechanical engineering sector of the Russian Federation was represented by the companies of Uralvagonzavod Corporation which is one of the largest holdings and benefits from decades of experience. Companies affiliated with Uralvagonzavod have participated in exhibitions held in Algeria more than once, and this regular showcase of the latest designs of produced machines and equipment regularly attracts the interest of Algerian and North African partners interested in expanding their partner base and operations.

The exhibition pavilion of Uralvagonzavod was also used to promote the activities of the Russian-Algerian Business Council, headed by the Corporation’s Director General Oleg Sienko. The Council’s main purpose is to strengthen economic ties between the two countries using the possibilities available to the business circles, as well as the information support for bilateral projects and assistance in the diversification and growth of trade and investment between Russia and Algeria.

"CHETRA" - "Tractor Plants", another well known Russian company from the sector also presented their specialized products and services during the exhibition in cooperation with their Algerian partner.

The united pavilion of the Russian-Arab Business Council presented to the participants and guests of the exhibition a number of companies from Russia looking for partners in Algeria, including Velan Ltd (explosion-proof equipment, associated member of RABC), NPP Geofizika (oil and gas services) and Saratovenergocomplekt (special electric equipment).

The exhibition in Hassi Messaoud was attended by more than 280 exhibitors from 25 countries (Russia, France, Italy, Spain, USA, England, Belgium, China, Canada, Germany, Poland, Austria, Egypt, Tunisia, Qatar, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Netherlands, Japan, Iran, etc.). The event was dedicated to the discussion of investment opportunities, business negotiations and the search for partners.

During the event, Russian companies managed to meet heads of Algeria's oil and gas companies, expand their customer base, take advantage of new business opportunities, present new products, establish contacts with executives of oil companies, potential customers and partners from Algeria and other countries in the region.

Russian participants achieved the goal of finding and establishing contacts, participated in intensive negotiations regarding practical participation in various projects, developed road maps for cooperation with Algerian companies, business associations and organizations in different areas.

Hassi Messaoud is a town in Ouargla Province, eastern Algeria. It has a population of about 50,000. Oil was discovered there in 1956 and the town's prominence has grown rapidly since then; it is considered as the First Energy town in Algeria where all the big oil and gas companies have offices and bases. It is an oil refinery town named after the first oil well. Geological reserves have been estimated at 2,4 billion tons.
