CCI President Holds Coordination Session Dedicated to the Activities of the Russian-Arab Business Council
On the 5th of September 2011 the Coordination session dedicated to the activities of the Russian-Arab Business Council and of bilateral Russian-Arab business councils took place in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation.
The Chairman of the Russian-Arab Business Council (RABC) Vladimir Evtushenkov, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Mikhail Bogdanov and other representatives of specialized ministries and agencies, co-chairmen of bilateral Russian-Arab business councils participated in the session chaired by the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of the Russian Federation Sergey Katyrin.
The meeting discussed commercial and economic cooperation between Russia and Arab countries taking into account social and political changes which had been taking place in this region.
The speeches were delivered by the President of CCI of the Russian Federation Sergey Katyrin, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Mikhail Bogdanov, the Deputy Director of Asia and Africa Department of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Russian Federation Nailya Chernikova, the Chairman of RABC Vladimir Evtushenkov, the Director of RABC Tatiana Gvilava, and representatives of bilateral business councils.
In his speech, Mr. Bogdanov exposed the current situation in the Arab world and the perspectives of its development. He underlined that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to support Russian economic operators willing to work on the Arab markets. Ms. Chernikova also confirmed that Intergovernmental Commissions for Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation between Russia and Arab countries are working actively.
The head of CCI Sergey Katyrin emphasized the coordination functions of the Russian-Arab Business Council in the work of bilateral business councils and appealed to the representatives of these councils to support actively the events organized by RABC in 2012-2013.
The Chairman of RABC Vladimir Evtushenkov stated that the Council was established 8 years ago on the initiative of CCI, and from that moment it passed several stages. During the first stage the Russian Federation established initial contacts; during the second stage bilateral business councils were created. At present the Council is in the third stage, i.e. the stage of realization of plans and initiatives put forward during preceding stages.
Mr. Evtushenkov also informed that RABC along with CCI and the Russian Energy Agency of the Russian Ministry of Energy is in the process of establishing the International Agency of Attracting Investment which is to search for investors for projects on the territory of the Russian Federation and assist Russian economic operators taking part in foreign investment projects.
The Director of the Russian-Arab Business Council Tatiana Gvilava delivered a speech on the current activities of the Council, events planned for the year 2012 and appealed to the participants of the session to take part in them. Ms. Gvilava expressed readiness on behalf of RABC to coordinate the activities of the bilateral councils.
